This is a 7-hr SNOWCAT supported, FIRST TRACKS and BACKCOUNTRY tour offering, based on a minimum of two participants. Our tour is a mountain skills tune-up experience for strong intermediate skiers who want to try going off-piste beyond side-country, to learn how to use a beacon and learn about avalanche avoidance, etc. while riding sweet lines beyond the resort.
The first lift only is a ride in a SNOWCAT. We start our first descent in the side-country, progress to gate-accessed areas, then later hike about an hour out of bounds to true BACKCOUNTRY, all around Akakura. Pricing for the full day 6+ hour ski/board tour is essentially $350 USD per person; price includes our intro tour:
-Hotel pick-up, Welcome hot beverage, Meet and Greet by guide
-Avalanche set rental (beacon, probe, shovel, day-pack), Off-trail riding and SNOWCAT safety briefing, Avalanche beacon use training session
-One ride up in our SNOWCAT, Trail Lunch, Guide fees, complimentary hot-spring ticket to soak your bones after a great day

Full mountain ski lift passes are required for Akakura and Backcountry access, and are available for an extra $20 USD.

Other Info
Hucking and adrenaline is all-good, but challenging yet safe, do-able path to the bottom for students or clients is what your wife / family / girlfriends wants for you. Outdoor pursuits / outdoor teaching / mountain life has proven an extremely good medium from which were born a wide range of intercultural experiences. From First Turns to First Tracks (pow) to showshoeing to ONSEN Apres-ski, I will pass along whatever knowledge I can. For clients, I have available ski lift ticket hook-up, private (couples/) onsen etc., available.
